We have private docking and plenty of free secure parking in our adjacent parking lot for all events. We have been satisfying the fishing and cruising public for over 60 years and 4 generations!
We had a good day today. We started out close to home jigging up 2-5lb blues. When that bite slowed down Capt Bob searched around and found big bluefish, all gAffers form 9-14lbs. It wasn’t lock and load action but we put together a nice catch of large fish. On the way back there were birds up with 2-3 lbs blues under them and we picked away at them until it was time to head in. We are expecting these fish to remain in the area so come on down while the fish are biting.

Sailing early pays off as the conditions were perfect to start the day and we had limit catches with a few folks catching five keepers. Bait was best and you have to pay attention to what is hot. We had our best drift of the year with 22 keeper Fluke. When the southeast wind came it killed the good bite, but we still picked. Dennis Fuchs from Cranford, NJ won his second daily pool in a row with a 5-pound Fluke.
The weather is looking good for a nice stretch and we will be catching Fluke.

Nice day out there today, little bit of a ground swell but other than that nice….Fishing was picky,,we got some really nice sea bass but at times they did not chew like they should…Other times we had them flying over the rail and we had some shots at keepers..along with that we also had winter flounder,,some ling,,and…
– We had the fish flying as soon as we started today,,,some really nice fish in the mix to..Guys jigging did best…especially with the nicer keepers. Some limited out early in the day..The gulp or anything that looks like a sand eel was hot..The fish were actually chasing around bait balls of sand eels today.>We even saw the bait up on top on the ride home,,,the sea bass were chasing it all the way to the surface..Loads of fish coming up through out the trip,,had to weed through and get to the keepers..It was really a good day again…Loads of life out there…will get some pics up later..Tomorrow looks good again!! Come on down…see ya for coffee.

Tomorrow we sail from 7 30 AM to 3 30 PM for SEA BASS. Starting Saturday June 16th we will sail everyday from 7 30 AM to 230PM for FLUKE/ SEA BASS. FLUKE being the primary target. Bring jigs and gulp! We will supply spearing and squid for FLUKE fishing. The boat is always lit up by 530AM. Hope to see you down at the dock soon. Remember.. don’t read the report… Be the report!
We had a light East wind with an East ground-swell. We looked at some inshore spots from where we were previously fishing and decided to take a ride a little further to the Northeast. Our first stop of the day we did have a lot of activity with Seabass bites, but only a few keepers in the mix. It did seem as the next couple moves that it was par for the course. The stops throughout the day did have plenty of life on them only to find loads of short and a handful of keepers on every spot. Even the AVA-27 jigs only produced a few keepers. Saturday we will be starting our 3/4 day Fluking trips, 7:30am to 2:30pm. See you in the morning!
We did have an East wind this morning, but the ocean wasn’t too bad. Our first few stops of the morning were very slow with just an occassional keeper here and there. We did have lots of readings under the boat the whole time, but the fish did not want to cooperate. We did try diamond jigs, and gulp and everything else but no luck. We decided to take a little bit of a ride and later on in the afternoon the fish started to bite a little bit better. Towards the end of the day the fish turned on. Guys had thier limits, nice quality Seabass. See you in the morning!!!CALL NOW FOR ANY PRIVATE CHARTERS OR SUNSET CRUISES AS WE ARE BOOKING UP FOR OUR SUMMER MONTHS !!!Call Debbie at 908-770-6168

Our last stop produced Ling and Sea Bass in decent numbers and was good for us again on the Saturday trip. Cliff Calkins won the pool with a 6-pound Cod. Our next LING MARATHON trip is 6:30 AM Thursday morning June 14.
UPCOMING OFFSHORE TRIPS
In June, we have room on our 1.5-day and 2-day TILEFISH & TILEFISH/ROSEFISH COMBO TRIPS. We also have had a few spots open up on our June 17 WORLD RECORD TILEFISH HUNT.
We still have room on our 2.5-day NANTUCKET COD WRECK & JIGGING TRIP leaving 6 PM Thursday June 21. We can’t stress enough that the federal government may close this fishery down in the near future so come out while you still can! Our last trip was great!

he last couple mornings were decent enough bites on fluke, with a fair amount of keepers. Seems as though the bait draggers did a little better than the bucktail jiggers. Some sea bass in the mix. Tom Miller caught his limit of keeper fluke and won the pool with a 4.5lber. He was using pink gulp.
The PM trips have been slower so far.
Last weekend was unproductive for striped bass but we’ll give our best shot this Thursday, Friday and Saturday night.

Great weather for Fluke fishing the past 2 days. Fluke fishing is improving. When the conditions are right, we see some decent short action with a keeper here and there coming up. Sea Bass has been helping anglers bringing home dinner as well. Today, I noticed that anglers bouning green skirts around with squid and spearing had a decent amount of bites. As the water warms up, it will only get better! Back at it in the morning!

Get to the SEA STAR III and this could be YOU!
Hope to see you soon.
SEA STAR III
A busy week on the SEA STAR III. Reef fishing was producing some Sea Bass, Keepers and shorts, as you would expect. We made an attempt at Fluke on opening day over in the Bay and had a couple of Fluke and a couple of Weakfish for our efforts but slow fishing overall. I suspect we will bounce back and forth between targeting Fluke and Sea Bass to be determined by weather and water temperature. It is still early in the season and we don’t know what to expect just yet. The Drumfish bite is still strong despite a couple of “Off Nights”. The SEA STAR III has open seats available for all remaining Drum trips, so Call to make your reservations TODAY! Don’t miss out, Only a couple of more weeks for the Prime Time Drumfish trips and we’ll say Good Bye to the Drumfish for another year! Anyhow, I will again leave you with more photos from this week’s action. I hope you enjoy viewing this report almost as much as we did making it!
Thanks for checking in….

Peconic Star Express (631- 289-6899): In case you did not know it, they added a second boat the Peconic Star Express (see below), a beauty of 80 foot and 150 passenger and larger than the main fluke boat you see in the reports. It is for all intent and purposes’a brand new boat condition wise and looks wise. The day trips are for bass & bluefish with $95 adults, $85 seniors and $55 for kids 12 and under. As for the night trips for the special 25 person maximum allowed for bass it is $125. Starting June 7, they will not fish on this vessel Monday or Tuesdays as they run Block Island excursions leaving Greenport at 8 a.m. and leaving Block Island at 5 p.m. Monday and Tuesdays. This means you can stay over night at Block Island and come home Tuesday evening on the 5 p.m. boat. This also means you do not have to drive through the Hamptons to get to the Block island Ferry. You actually save time by driving the shorter route to Greenport and taking the Peconic Star Express to Block Island. Check the web site www.PeconicStarFleet.com.

5/13- Cold, windy and rainy were the words of the day today. The cold east wind played havoc with the drifting conditions, but we managed to grab a few nice flatties! Tomorrow and Tuesday look beautiful, hopefully some nice conditions put the fluke on the chew!

A little background on party boat fishing in NYC and some useful tips
In the past two decades or so, there has been a significant investment in waterfront access, with improved facilities and infrastructure. A vast improvement in water quality since 1972’s Clean Water Act changed the way we deal with pollution has meant the return of many species of fish to our local waters.
I am from New York City. I have had to work with what was in front of me. I may never enjoy the execution of a perfect 10 to 2 fly cast over a moving stream that lands right in the sightline of a nasty, ol’ daddy trout sitting just behind that rock right there, but I do know a thing or two about putting fish in the bucket.
Party Boat Fishing
“If people concentrated on the really important things in life, there’d be a shortage of fishing rods.” -Doug Larson
Party Boats, sometimes known as Head Boats or Open Boats, are a category of commercial sport fishing boats that charges a fee per passenger for regularly scheduled trips.
Like a train or plane, the boat has posted departure and return times, holds a set number of passengers, and charges the same fixed fee for most voyagers. Kids and seniors get a discount on most boats. They will supply you with a rod, tackle and bait (some charge a small fee for the use of rods, some provide them free with your fare).
The number of anglers on a trip depends on the size of the boat, and the cost of the trip. The less the trip costs, and the bigger the boat, (also the shorter the trip), the more people will be on the boat. Skill levels of the fisherman vary greatly.
If the trip is taken during the local tourist season, and the trip is during the day, expect a number of ‘riders’ (people who go out just for the ride-not to fish) and extremely novice anglers. If you want to avoid the crowds take your trip during bad weather, off-season, long trips, or ‘limited party’ (costs more hence fewer folks).
You can find a good listing of these boats at the bottom of this page.
General Rules for Party Boats
Proper etiquette is a MUST for party boat fishing for all who sail. You may be with a group of friends; another group might have a family with kids; a third might be a group here from another country, everyone gets along.
I’ll give you a few tips on making it a fun day:
1) Always obey the Crew and Captain. Their goal is to keep you and all the other anglers happy, since without your money they will go broke. Most of the time, with a good professional crew, this is not a problem. They do this for a living and it is there business to put you on fish.
2) Always be aware of those around you (right, left, and when casting-behind). Watch out for kids. Most bad tangles can be avoided if you pay attention to your line. Otherwise, oh boy! “No pulling in the back!”
3) Be knowledgeable of local species, and local laws. Often a single illegal fish on a boat can result in very large fines for both boat Captain and the offending angler. When in doubt, ask the crew or release the fish. A few mates break the spines of nuisance species like dogfish. I am not down with this unnecessary killing and make a point of saying that when I hook one. Click for a current list of NYS DEC Fishing Regulations
4) Exercise patience, kindness, and courtesy. Cursing loudly, while common among most of us anglers when fishing alone, can offend others on a party boat. Never drink excessively. It is common respect not to get all banged up on a boat. “Don’t disrespect the Bing!”
5) Chill out. If your lines get tangled, don’t get frustrated or try to assess blame-it goes with fishing elbow to elbow, and can be a good way to make friends.
6) HAVE FUN! A party boat is a great place to meet other anglers and ‘trade lies’ as fishermen often do. There is more to fishing than just catching fish.
What should I bring on a party boat?
1) Food, Beverages. Hot coffee helps with the early morning chill. Hydration is key on hot days I recommend fruit juices and cold bottles of water. While I do occasionally indulge in a beer or two, I find that too much hurts my fishing abilities and makes me take too many trips to the ‘head’. Drinking a few beers is part of the experience for many anglers on a hot day, but remember it is a privilege afforded to you by the Captain. Some boats have decent galleys and sell food and drinks on board so call the boat’s Captain before your first trip for the low-down. I usually find it best to pack a couple of sandwiches for the trip.
2) A camera phone (sealing it in a Zip Lock Bag to prevent it from getting wet) for those special moments.
3) Extra Clothing. In the spring, it can be much cooler on the water then on land. Dress in layers. Even on warm days, bring an extra layer or two.
4) Rain Gear, if there is even a chance of weather.
5) Sunscreen and Polarized Sunglasses. You will bake in the sun. SPF on ears, face, under chin and neck. The reflection of the sun off the water is strong and can burn too.
6) An old towel or t-shirt to wipe your hands on.
7) Warm, non-slip shoes that can get wet.
8) Bring a cooler to keep your food and beverages cold and to bring your fish home.
9) Tools: Pliers, Scissors, Folding Knife, extra line, and a tackle box or bag that can get wet.
10) Sturdy fishing tackle. Just about every boat will have decent rods for you to use. If you are going to fish a few times each years, you will soon want to invest in your own. It can get personal.
11) A waterproof bag or heavy plastic bag to put you non-fishing gear stuff in. You are on the water and things get wet.
12) Any specialized baits not provided by the boat (call the boat first and check reports online or in the papers).
13) Cash in small denominations (usually I bring some ones and fives, in addition to my fare). You will need it to tip the crew (ask regulars what is customary), to buy extra tackle, to pay for fish cleaning, to buy snacks and to enter the pool.
14) Aspirin (or equiv.) and/or Dramamine (for those sea-sick prone-take one BEFORE you leave the dock).
15) A GOOD ATTITUDE! It is a great day to forget your city strife and experience a bit of nature. Enjoy yourself on the high seas!
Spend enough time on the sea and you will see many strange things. I have had days on the water when fish sacrificed themselves on every cast. Bluefish, when feeding, are as voracious as any shark of your imaginations. Big ones go 17+ pounds and they will rip up your arms if you hook into one. I have been lost, in fog on rough seas. I have seen a man die standing to my right as I caught fish on a night trip on the Brooklyn III on a Friday in 1978. I have lost fish so big that they devour my soul with their silent, deep sea mocking. Be that as it may, I love being on the water.
